The AAH issue!

"AAH" stands for Action Against Homelessness It's important for us to make clear to those who have never experienced homelessness or even extreme poverty. To those who are privileged enough to have never had to struggle to find accommodations.. That homelessness is something that can happen to almost anyone. It's not only a phenomenon that happens to people of unsound mind or person's who have a drug dependency issue. Anyone can lose their job, business and as a direct result their financial instability can cause them to lose their home. In addition to that even working person's who are earning can find it difficult to acquire, especially in overcrowded cities, suitable, safe and affordable housing options.  Most governments seem to have a long-term perspective, making efforts more with homeowners than with those who rent or lease for short term and residents who may move around and change location more frequently. Project AAH

AAH stands for Action Against Homelessness First incepted in the UK in 2002/3 WUAH (Women United Against Homelessness) was a small Action Group, of mixed heritage, ethnic minority females who were living in homes provided by a Housing Association with non-assured tenancies. After being threatened with homelessness a group of 10 women who remained challenged the Housing Association, with assistance from Social activists and Local Politicians. The Group Founder and Coordinator Amaechi Bernard, spearheaded a campaign along with Associate Tanya Bernard and other tenants. The group were featured in the local press including a couple of appearances in the Ham & High newspaper along with a Public Forum meeting. WUAH were able to assert their rights to be rehoused and not be evicted as was planned by UWHA (United women's Housing Association) A registered Charity founded with the intention to provide affordable homes for single working females in London.
