AAH stands for Action Against Homelessness

First incepted in the UK in 2002/3 WUAH (Women United Against Homelessness) was a small Action Group, of mixed heritage, ethnic minority females who were living in homes provided by a Housing Association with non-assured tenancies.

After being threatened with homelessness a group of 10 women who remained challenged the Housing Association, with assistance from Social activists and Local Politicians. The Group Founder and Coordinator Amaechi Bernard, spearheaded a campaign along with Associate Tanya Bernard and other tenants.

The group were featured in the local press including a couple of appearances in the Ham & High newspaper along with a Public Forum meeting. WUAH were able to assert their rights to be rehoused and not be evicted as was planned by UWHA (United women's Housing Association) A registered Charity founded with the intention to provide affordable homes for single working females in London.

AAH is an Action Committee with a mission to provide assistance and advice to those threatened with or experiencing the negative affects of being dislocated.

PRS REform?!

The term “Landlord” originates from feudal times, where it denoted a person who held land and had certain rights and responsibilities over it and its inhabitants. Initially this concept was tied to a hierarchical system where the Monarch or ‘Lord’ held ultimate ownership.  There were lesser Nobles and Barons who would manage and rent out portions of the land.  Over the years the term has evolved to refer to anyone who owns and rents out property, regardless of their social standing.  Source: Google In modern terms a ‘landlord’ is typically an individual or entity that owns a property and leases it to a tenant for rent, often as a business venture.  My opinion is that this term is out of place in  modern society and gives ordinary persons association with a title to which they are not suited.  There is absolutely no reason to give a title to someone who owns or manages a property. Most often in the City of London especially, very few people actually own the ...

The AAH issue!

"AAH" stands for Action Against Homelessness It's important for us to make clear to those who have never experienced homelessness or even extreme poverty. To those who are privileged enough to have never had to struggle to find accommodations.. That homelessness is something that can happen to almost anyone. It's not only a phenomenon that happens to people of unsound mind or person's who have a drug dependency issue. Anyone can lose their job, business and as a direct result their financial instability can cause them to lose their home. In addition to that even working person's who are earning can find it difficult to acquire, especially in overcrowded cities, suitable, safe and affordable housing options.  Most governments seem to have a long-term perspective, making efforts more with homeowners than with those who rent or lease for short term and residents who may move around and change location more frequently. What they often seem to fail to recognise abo...
