AAH stands for Action Against Homelessness
First incepted in the UK in 2002/3 WUAH (Women United Against Homelessness) was a small Action Group, of mixed heritage, ethnic minority females who were living in homes provided by a Housing Association with non-assured tenancies.
After being threatened with homelessness a group of 10 women who remained challenged the Housing Association, with assistance from Social activists and Local Politicians. The Group Founder and Coordinator Amaechi Bernard, spearheaded a campaign along with Associate Tanya Bernard and other tenants.
The group were featured in the local press including a couple of appearances in the Ham & High newspaper along with a Public Forum meeting. WUAH were able to assert their rights to be rehoused and not be evicted as was planned by UWHA (United women's Housing Association) A registered Charity founded with the intention to provide affordable homes for single working females in London.
AAH is an Action Committee with a mission to provide assistance and advice to those threatened with or experiencing the negative affects of being dislocated.
